The Edmonton Road and Track Club is excited to present the Pigeon Lake Road Race on june 7, 2025!
We are happy to announce that this year's Pigeon Lake Road Race is supported by our friends at Blindman Brewing. With their support, and delicious beers, we will have beer prizing in addition to cash prizing. If (and only if) you are too young to receive this beer prizing, there will be an additional $20 given to you.
Our Event will also include an open to all morning Fondo with 40km and 64km options. Read the Tech Guide carefully as there are now many differences in the format and timing. Also there is a BBQ at the hall! Remember to let us know your dietary restrictions in the registration!

Registration closes at 11:59pm on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025.
LOCATION AND ROUTE
The staging site is Mulhurst Bay Community Hall. The primary parking is the grassed area by the hall, with overflow parking in the park and on the side of the road. Note that the hall has limited bathroom facilities (2 indoor, and 1 portapotty). We have provided changing tents in side the hall for you to change in, so please try to leave the bathroom free for people who need to use the facilities.
Each race category starts with a neutral rollout for approximately 4km from Mulhurst Bay Community Hall. Please review the interactive map to see the route. The race will run CLOCKWISE. Each lap of the course is 24km.
Marshalls will be stationed at the corners (pending volunteers), however their primary responsibility will be helping with traffic control and awareness. They are not responsible for showing you the route. It is recommended that you study the route below to avoid any wrong turns.

Licence and Sign in
Early races have first priority for sign-in. Do not lineup to sign in outside of the times shown below. Sign in will close 15 minutes prior to each category’s respective start. Sign-on will be at the community center. Please sign on no earlier than 8am.
Feed Zone
Please review the interactive map for the location of the feed zone.
There is no feeding allowed in the first 50km and the last 20km of the race.
Races that are the 72km or longer will be allowed to have feeds.
Feed Zone Safety
There will be a marshall at the feed zone, if you have any questions ask that marshall, if you have any concerns please speak to that marshall.
Volunteers and feeders must keep vehicles completely off the road surface, including the shoulder.
Do not stand on the roadway, other than when you are feeding passing riders.
Instructions To Feeders & Team Support
Race organizers and local residents will not tolerate any litter or waste left behind.
Instructions to Racers
Bottles and trash are only to be discarded in the feed zones. Failure to abide will result in sanctions being levied on individual riders, or teams if the rider can not be identified.
Safety
Every aspect of this event is being planned with safety as the first priority. You are a critical partner in ensuring the event is run in a manner that is safe and enjoyable for all racers, race officials, volunteers, and residents of the area. If you have suggestions or concerns regarding safety please contact the race organizers by email at any time.
An ambulance and several paramedics will be on the course.

If you witness or go by an emergency incident - don't assume that someone else will call it in. We will have follow vehicles and sweep cars but there may be time before someone else is able to call it in. If you are able, please call either Brennen or Santiago below as they will have access to transport and training to deal with any incidents. If it is a larger/serious incident and a 911 call is required, they will call it in, as they will receive a faster response. Take a screenshot of these numbers and keep it on your phone.

Rider Conduct
Riders shall act with utmost caution.
All licence holders shall, in whatever capacity, participate in cycling races in a sporting and fair manner.
Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated, including but not limited to public urination, littering, use of profane language and verbal abuse of officials.

Chip Timing
This race will be chip timed, giving more complete timing information. Please pick up your chip at sign-on and attach it to your handlebars. Return the chips to the timing tent or at the community hall. Failure to return your timing chip will result in a $75 replacement fee.
Passed Riders
Pay attention to other traffic in your lane. Pass other groups on their left and stay as far to the right as is practicable to allow for passing motor traffic or another race group. Do not mix in with other race groups.
If the wheel vehicle passes you ride as far to the right as is practicable and obey all traffic signs and laws. If another group catches up to you, you cannot ride or work with the group or be involved in the final sprint.
DNF Riders
If you retire from the race please report this to a course marshal, commissaire, finish line official, or the organizer.
Finish Line
Please review the interactive map for the location of the finish line. The finishing sprint must not cross the centre line. Crossing the centerline at any point during the race will result in immediate disqualification. At the conclusion of your race, proceed directly to Mulhurst Bay Community Hall. If you wish to remain at the finish line to spectate please do so on the opposite side of the road, in the ditch. Listen to the Commissaires and Finish Line officials for any instructions as it is for your safety.
End of Race Awards
Podium Presentations
Podium presentations will be held shortly after the race ends, and the commissaires have confirmed the results, at the Sundance Beach Community Hall.
Prizing
Prizing will be a combination of cash and merchandise. Prizing will be finalized based on the number of entries. Prizing will be awarded equally across all categories, other than U15/U17 which will have more cash (and less beer).
Mechanical Issues / Wheel Cars
Wheel cars will be provided if there are enough volunteers. Priority will be placed on Women’s Category 1/2/3 and Men’s 1/2. There will be no neutral wheels and the only wheels you may use are your own.
Alberta Cup Points
This event will be part of the Alberta Provincial Road Series with series and upgrade points available according to the ABA Points Schedule B, more information can be found here: https://www.albertabicycle.ab.ca/awards-cups-series-road
Food and Refreshments
A BBQ lunch is included. Burger (Beef and Veggie) with all the fixin’s and snacks and candy, and an assortment of beverages. No bottled water will be provided, as the tap water is potable.

The ABA complies with and fully supports the UCI anti-doping regulations, the clauses of the World Anti-Doping Code and its international standards to which the UCI anti-doping regulations refer and to the anti-doping regulations of other competent bodies as per the regulations of the UCI.
Number Placement
If you have already received your ABA numbers, wear them for this race. If this is your first ABA race, you will be assigned your race numbers.
Failing to bring your personal race numbers – should you have them – is a $10 replacement cost.
