I hope everyone’s summer is going well! As usual during this time of the year we see people and families take vacations and go on trips - this usually leads to less people attending our rides until the fall. We will continue to do our best to ensure that we have a ride that is the best for you! 

Also, Wednesday THIS WEEK (July 23) is our Metro Movie Night! This year we are showing “The Great Southern Country” A film about Lachlan Morton’s ride around Australia. As always, this is free for members, and $10(+ fees and taxes) for anyone else. Please feel free to invite any of your cycling interested friends (or even your not-cycling friends). We will have draw prizes and our sponsors will be out so feel free to come out and hang out before and after! Coupon code will be attached in the email this comes with.   • July 23 - Metro Movie Night - See above! 

  • Our ERTC Clothing Store is available for taking orders! As usual, anything that we have in stock for immediate pick up you can find at https://www.ertc.org/teamkit - this store is always open. If our in-stock website does not have what you want, you can order custom items at https://www.rogellicanada.com/ertc - these items have a 8-10 week turn around as they are custom made in Italy. Items that you order now will arrive in the fall, unless otherwise noted. The custom order window closes July 24th.

Ride Updates:

  • For Thursday Hills - if you have the flexibility to do so, when selecting a Thursday ride, if there is a large imbalance between the 2 rides, please select the one with less people to help out our resourcing and increase safety for our ride groups. We are committed to making the 2 rides as equal to each other as possible so that your experience is the same between the 2.

  • Official Rides are posted on strava. If you haven’t requested to join, please do so here: https://www.strava.com/clubs/2845 if you’ve applied and haven’t heard back, e-mail me, but first, make sure your strava name matches your registration name.

  • Day to day communication and general chatter is via slack. You can join here: https://join.slack.com/t/edmontonroada-7u36621/shared_invite/zt-1t5qvezds-JotWB~e_EJcXrD9NArQarA - this is where you can get real time updates about unofficial rides, talk bikes with club members, and sell your stuff to other club members! If you identify as female and would like to be included in the WoERTC communications and event announcements, please message Heather Curtis on Slack to be added to the private WoERTC channel. Please remember to use the “reply in thread” feature when using slack (especially in the general channel, think about all the group chats you are in, general is like a 400 person group chat) 

  • Remember to review your insurance needs for the season if you registered before March 31st (if you registered after, it will have been an option on your registration.
