Hi - Tiffany here…standing in for our El Presidente. Which means this update will be slightly less witty, and possibly more detailed….

Here’s some highlights for this week:

  • Learn 2 Ride Session Two is scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday), 6pm in the Hawrelak Park main parking lot. Velofix will be on site starting at 5:30pm for any club members who’d like to stop by, no requirement to stay for the L2Ride session. Check here for info on what we’re going to cover in the session. We’d appreciate the support of some experienced club members as we are working on drafting and elevated group riding skills - so we need knowledgeable groups to practice in!

  • Steida Classic Update: Shout out to to Jakob Claffey and Kate Snihur for their 3rd place finishes in the Men’s Cat 1/2 and Women’s Cat 4/5 Crit races respectively, and kudo’s to all those who braved the sand (I mean gravel) and raced the road race. My legs still hurt!

  • Long weekend races: There are two races this weekend, one of which doesn’t require a UCI race licence, making it a great option for those interested in giving racing a try. The Perron District Criterium on Sunday is a great option for racers and spectators alike, and the Velocity Time Trial on Victoria Day Monday offers a Citizen Category; a less-pressure option that allows you to simply race yourself. You don’t need a fancy TT bike to give it a try! If either/both of these options interest you but you’re new to racing, check out our ERTC Try Racing Program as we offer support in your development as a new racer.

  • Not sure what rides are going this weekend? Ensure to check the ERTC club ride info on Strava. What’s Strava? - here’s some info. Ensure you RSVP to rides you’re interested in so that you receive updates on cancellations or changes. Heads-up, the WoERTC ride on Monday will likely change - an email will be sent to the ladies.

  • Didn’t make it to the ERTC Season Opener extravaganza, hosted by the amazing James Gray? Then you MISSED OUT! We are extremely grateful to James, his wife Jess, adorable daughter Audrey, friendly dog Rocky, and MIA cat Lola for opening their home to us, and ensuring that there was absolutely no risk of interaction with chinchillas. But seriously, thnx to the Gray family!

Man, these weekly updates take a bit of time - kudo’s also to Albert who diligently keeps us all informed each week!

Wishing you all a great week, and some great quality time on two-wheels!
