Members
The Edmonton Road and Track Club was formed in 1975, and many of the founding members are still involved with the club today.
After a season or two of riding with the club, our members realize that the ERTC is much more than a club to help you get fit and win races.

Cameron Mcknight
Cameron started road racing with ERTC in 1999 as a junior.
Crossing over from mountain biking, Cameron discovered why people actually liked riding those 'funny look'n skinny tire bikes'.
Since then, he has honed his racing skills winning provincial races as well as racing with the Provincial and National teams.
Cameron has recently graduated from the UofA with a B.Sc. in Kinesiology and is continuing to pursue his racing goals.
His favourite race is the criterium.

Aaron Schooler
Aaron decided to give road racing a try after he graduated from Nait as a Mechanical Engineering Techologist in the summer of 2006.
Aaron quickly picked up the sport of road racing and by the end of the summer, he had moved himself into Category 3.
From his mountain biking and free riding background, Aaron soon discovered the sport of cyclocross and excelled at it from the gun.
After coming 2nd place at his very first National Championships in the Espoir Category, Aaron soon realized that Europe was the place for him.
He has competed at various World Cup Cyclocross Events in 2007 and 2008 and competed for Team Canada at the World Championships in Belgium and Italy.
Aaron Has recently moved on to race for the Calgary based Team H & R Block in the 2008 season, although he still trains and rides with the club,
not forgetting his roots.

Richard Cairney
Rich joined ERTC in 2003 and his most memorable race highlights include being
attacked and bitten by a dog during a race - ouch! - getting into a break, and
surviving The Big Nasty, a notorious climb near Moab that rises 3000 ft in 11km.
Rich is incorporating Mountain Bike racing into the mix and will try his hand at
track this year as well. During the off season, rich enjoys cross-country skiing.

Cody Canning
Cody Canning AKA Codily Awesome McCoolness started riding mountain bikes in 1999
as summer training for the NHL. He soon realized he was small and better suited
to riding bicycles. After two years of getting last place at every race he finally
turned down the suck and started winning races. He was soon forced/persuaded to start
wearing spandex and to ride road bikes. In 2006 as a junior Cody won the National
Mountain Bike Championships and was the top UCI ranked Junior Mountain Biker in North
America. If I were asked to use one word to discribe Cody it would have to be "megachampion".
Cody currently rides Road, Mountain and Cyclocross for ERTC and is working on upgrading the
one word used to discribe him.

Katie Hegan
I’m not going to play the ‘third person’ game. My name is Katie. I
don’t take myself seriously. I love trail running and music and oceans
and tan lines and pretending that I’m still 6. I also love biking for
hours and hours. I joined ERTC in the spring of 2008, and am planning
to race the 2009 road season to see how I like it. And if I don’t like
it, I’m still going to rock out on the training rides and wear the
awesome jersey. The ERTC people are doubtless some of the most
wonderful and hilarious people I’ve ever met. And you know how the old
saying goes: “Friendships formed while congregating in matching
spandex last forever.”
- 1st: 2003 University Orientation hula hoop endurance contest

- I often eat a whole box of popsicles in one sitting
- Mad numchuck skills.

Dominik Kubicki
Dominik started racing bikes seriously in the fall of 2007, when he
decided to join the ERTC. He managed to move into Cat 1/2 in just one
season, causing outrage and controversy in the upper ranks of the ERTC
(and the lower ranks of H&R Block). The rapid progress he made during
the 2008 season could be attributed to his motivation to make the 2009
Canadian Cyclocross team. However, he didn’t make the team, and his
dreams were shattered. He is now on a strict diet of alcohol and women,
as ordered by his coach. Dominik is currently in the process of filing
for bankruptcy due to the excessive cost of bicycle racing, and is very
thankful to his Platinum-level sponsor, his dad. For the 2009 season,
Dominik is planning on increasing his cycling ability by using techniques
proven by cycling greats such as Landis, Millar, and Armstrong. One love.

Scott Book
Scott had always enjoyed mountain biking, from 24 hours of adrenalin to local XC races.
In 2003, he took his love for the bike from recreational to professional when he started
his career as a bicycle courier. Soon after Scott was introduced to road racing, where he
has found he truly exceled in Time Trials and Criteriums. This past year (2007) has been the
best so far as Scott earned his way into Cat 3 with a glorious triumph at the Canada Day Criterium
after being off the front most of the race. In 2006, Cyclocross worked its way into Scott's
heart, combining his love for the technical aspects of mountain bike and the heart pounding pace
of a criterium. Future plans include top 3 in Masters A at Cyclocross Nationals, moving into Expert
in XC Mountain biking and someday be able to race with his son, London.

Kevin Rokosh
I’m a ‘retired’ electrical engineer, who is now working hard as a stay-at-home dad
and the ERTC Treasurer. I began bike racing in 1984, placing second in the Palm
Dairies “Ice Cream Classic” Novice race, which was held on our current Canada Day
Criterium course. Then, after a long hiatus of earning my EE degree at the U of A,
and carving out a living as a radar engineer in Ottawa, I finally jumped back into
bike racing in 1997, getting my re-start on the same crit course in Ottawa that
Gord Fraser began his career on. Since arriving back in Edmonton, I have devoted
more serious time to training, and can finally consistently ride sub-one-hour
40km time trials. I’m looking forward to a long career as a Master racer, and
giving the young pups a run for their money in Cat 1/2 races!

Kyle took off to England to teach, travel, and ride his bike. There he rode with many strong cyclists
like Dan Martin (Garmin). During a cycling 'holiday' in southern France, he rode through a snow storm at
the summit of the Port de Paelheres climb in the Pyrenees. Kyle also enjoy cross-country skiing and the
social life of ERTC. Kyle also did his first Mountain Bike race in 2008 and won his category. In the fall
Kyle likes to race Cyclocross.

but quickly abandoned the mountain biking in favour of a full-time pursuit of road cycling.
His favorite races are any that include climbing. As for training, his favorite
rides are the city hill circuit or the 6+ hour Calmar bakery rides.
Jere has completed his Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and plans
to pursue a Ph.D. degree at the University of Alberta. Off the bike, Jere enjoys golf,

in the way of retaining his membership to the most celebrated cycling club in Alberta. Jonathan
currently lives in Calgary, where he works as an Art Director.

Dan Wood
Dan joined ERTC in 1994, and his previous highlights included being on
Team Alberta for three years and multiple race wins in Western Canada.
He also completed various races in North America like the 1996 Olympic
Road Trials, The Tour de Beauce, 4th place stage in the Tour de
Saguenay and several top 8 results at the National Time Trials. He
prefers Criterium racing, and has won the Comox Criterium, placed 2nd
just behind Roland Green in the Bastion Square Victoria Criterium and
placed 2nd in Portland's Grand Prix Pro Criterium. He was also the
final cog in the formidable lead out machine that often assisted Mike
Haponiuk win many more criteriums!
Dan was away from the ERTC for a few years, when he did such crazy
things as live in small town Alberta, and bike the world for a year
fully loaded touring with Tonia. They have bike toured in 26 countries,
and in all the world's major mountain ranges, but he still doesn't like
racing uphill. He does however, now have a particular affection for
sticky rice, squat toilets and camping for free.
He decided to race again in 2004, but to only train by cycle commuting
to work. This training regimen is much better for family time, but
makes races seem much harder. The ABA declined his Cat 4 license
request and gave him back his Category 1 license. That was probably
alright, as he then won the silver medal in the Provincial Criterium
Championship for Cat 1/2! He then led the team to float down the Bow
River. He will probably be seen on various criterium courses again this
year, or maybe on a loaded touring bike somewhere, or maybe just
floating down some river on an inner tube.

Stephen Mundy
Stephen joined the ERTC in 1999 and started racing in 2000. Being the CEO of an
emerging High Tech Telecommunications company, my time was at premium and
something had to give, thus I retreated from racing for approximately two
years. I reemerged in 2004 with a fresh prospective on racing and achieved
most if not all of my racing goals in 2004, one of which was a consistent top
5 finisher in each and every race. The other was obtaining my upgrade to
Category 1&2. Thanks to the boys around me for protecting me just when I
needed it most and to Coach Corey for his tireless efforts and encouraging
words.

Darcy Reynard
I'm looking forward to my first full year of racing in 2005 after just a half year in 2004. I'll be looking to improve my fitness and claw my
way out of Cat 5. I'm part of the ERTC Calgary division because most jobs for geophysicists are in Calgary.

Kelly Geisheimer
Kelly joined the club in 2001 after moving from Kelowna to go to University. Her cycling experience is mostly in triathlon, but she has done a few Alberta time trials, as well as a mountain bike race and some local TT's and criteriums back in BC. Kelly's favorite club ride is on Wednesday night, but she is learning to enjoy the Thursday hill circuit.
Kelly's goals include running a sub-3 hour marathon in Victoria, doing at least one road race, trying out cyclocross in the fall, and cracking the top 3 at the Canadian Birkebeiner. When she is not playing outside, Kelly works full-time as an emergency RN.

Alison Rudge
Alison was introduced to road cycling by her husband Graham. She joined ERTC in 2001 and has
been riding ever since. Alison has used the club to train for many triathlons including several
half Ironmans and in 2009 she is training to compete in her first Ironman. Alison has made many
friends through the club and looks forward to many years of riding with ERTC.

Marg went in her first x-c race when she was 30. Before this, she was a competitive 1500 metre
track runner. She took to climbing on the bike immediately but was so scared on the technical
descents that she would always run them with her bike. She realized she had a lot to learn about
technical riding and pursued this by riding with local mountain bike friends and groups. Since
then, she's gone on to race the Canada Cup Series and found that her specialty was endurance races.

Paul is a recent arrival to Veteran 'B' racing and wants to be able to ride competitively with the rest of the Vet B's. In Paul's words, the level of performance and solidarity reached by the ERTC in the last few years makes him proud to be a club member.

Jeff Davis
When not on a bike, 42-year-old Jeff is in front of a computer. He has been riding seriously for over 20 years and joined ERTC in 1984. Since 1986 he has been club Secretary and is active at the provincial level. His favourite race is any one in which he's a factor. By the way, the bike in the picture is for sale.
