2018 ABA PROVINCIAL CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIPS

Please join us on Saturday July 14th for the 2018 Provincial Criterium Championships. The race will be held on a new, challenging, urban course.

LOCATION

We are very excited to have this race in the Capilano Neighbourhood. This six corner course has a significant amount of elevation gain each lap which will offer an exciting and challenging race. 

PARKING    

Please do not park on the streets immediately surrounding the race course. There is plenty of parking at Capilano Park and Goldbar Park, which are very close to the race course and easily accessed by bicycle.

LICENSING

License check and sign-in will close 10 minutes before the start of your race.


NUMBER PLACEMENT

If you have already received your 2018 ABA numbers, please wear them for this race. If this is your first ABA race, you will be assigned your race numbers here. 

A gentle reminder that failing to bring your personal race numbers – should you have them – is a $10 replacement cost.

Please ensure that you have your numbers well before your start time.

WHEEL PIT

Wheel pit is located south of the start / finish area. It is the rider’s responsibility to supply wheels identified by your race number (Wheels in Wheels out). Riders may receive one free lap for a crash or mechanical difficulty only (not caused by negligent maintenance) you must report to the commissaire in the wheel pit.  Re-enter the race as instructed by the commissaires. No free laps will be given in the last 3 laps of the race.


FIRST AID & EMERGENCY SERVICES

An ambulance and several paramedics will be on the course.

The nearest hospital is the UofA hospital

PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Provincial medals will be awarded in each category. Presentations for each race will be held at the start / finish area during the mustering for the next race.

PRIZING

Prize money subject to change based on final number of registrations. In addition to cash prizing Provincial Championship medals will be awarded.

 


FOOD & REFRESHMENTS

 

BBQ Pulled Pork sandwiches will be available to racers starting at 2pm on Saturday. The sandwiches are approximately 1/4 pound of meat per person and include coleslaw plus 6 different  homemade sauces for you to try. 

In addition to the awesome bbq refreshments (pop and some snacks) will be provided.


ANTI DOPING RULE VIOLATION

The ABA complies with and fully supports the UCI anti-doping regulations, the clauses of the World Anti-Doping Code and its international standards to which the UCI anti-doping  regulations refer and to the anti-doping regulations of other competent bodies as per the regulations of the UCI.
